Preventive Dentistry for Spring, TX Families
Our Spring, TX dental team is devoted to working with patients of all ages. With every patient we see, our goal is the same – to provide personalized service that leads to better oral health and overall wellbeing.
One of the chief ways we're helping patients every day is with routine cleanings and exams. But as important as cleanings and exams are, they're just two of the preventive services we offer. Our full selection of preventive services includes:
Dental Cleanings and Exams
Caring for your teeth and gums every day is important if you want to have a healthy smile. But even the patient with the best brushing and flossing routine could use some extra help. That's why cleanings and exams are essential.
We recommend visiting Dr. LeBlanc's office every six months for routine checkups. At each checkup, your hygienist uses advanced tools to remove leftover plaque and tartar from your smile. We also offer tips for improving your brushing and flossing routines.
Dr. LeBlanc also completes a full oral exam as part of every checkup. Our goal with preventive checkups is not only to help you keep your teeth clean but to identify developing issues as early as possible. If Dr. LeBlanc finds concerns during your visit, he would be happy to work with you on a plan to treat them.
This preventive service uses a thin coating of plastic to protect the chewing surfaces of teeth from harmful decay. It's especially good at protecting the molars, which some younger patients have difficulty cleaning.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Dr. LeBlanc believes every patient should be routinely screened for oral cancer. In fact, he believes so strongly in the importance of oral cancer screening that he completes one free of charge if your insurance provider doesn’t cover them.
Why are oral cancer screenings so important? To answer that question, you only have to consider a few facts.
Oral cancer claims more lives every year than either cervical or skin cancer. On average, one person dies from oral cancer every hour, resulting in an annual death toll that numbers in the thousands. What's more, many patients don't receive a diagnosis until the disease is already developed. As a result, a full recovery is often difficult, if not impossible.
By routinely screening his patients for oral cancer, Dr. LeBlanc hopes to change this. When oral cancer is diagnosed early, patients have a much higher chance of fully recovering.
Nightguards for TMJ/Bruxism
If you struggle with teeth grinding or clenching, you may have a condition known as bruxism, which is most often brought on by stress. Those who struggle with bruxism are the most vulnerable to it during sleep because they're unable to consciously stop teeth from grinding together.
The most common symptoms of bruxism include:
- Sore jaw
- Frequent headaches
- Pain in the neck, back, and shoulders
If left untreated, bruxism can have a dramatic effect on your smile. Not only can it cause your teeth to become worn, it also makes you more vulnerable to TMJ dysfunction and other serious health issues.
Thankfully, treatment is possible with a special oral appliance known as a nightguard. Your custom-made nightguard eases uncomfortable symptoms and protects teeth from the damage of bruxism.
The Wand: Painless Anesthesia
Our team is dedicated to giving patients a comfortable experience. That's why we're proud to use the Wand. Because anesthesia is concentrated in one small area when it's first injected, it's not uncommon for patients to experience discomfort when receiving a traditional injection, but with the Wand, this isn't the case. That's because it uses a computer to manage the flow and volume of anesthesia. As a result, it's delivered comfortably, without the irritation that comes with a traditional injection.
Pain-Free, Hi-Tech Laser Dentistry
In the past, a patient with advanced gum disease might have needed an invasive surgical procedure to control the condition. Today the same patient can look forward to receiving comfortable, non-invasive care with a soft tissue laser.
Why is laser gum surgery more comfortable? Because it targets only those tissues that need to be treated and heals as it cuts shrinking the patient's recovery time and eliminating the need for stitches.
Gum disease therapy isn't the only thing our soft tissue laser can be used for. If excess gum tissue is making your teeth look short or stubby, Dr. LeBlanc can use his laser to remove this tissue revealing a fuller and more beautiful smile in the process.
Are you experiencing a dental emergency? Don't hesitate to give our Spring, TX office a call right away. We respond to emergencies quickly and compassionately.
We have the ability now to take impressions of your teeth with our state of the art Digital Scanner. This eliminates the runny impressions that can gag some people and is a much faster and accurate way to capture an impression of your teeth.
