Has it been a while since the last time you visited the dentist? Have you been putting off going to the dentist because of fear? Don’t worry. You aren’t alone. In fact, it’s estimated 30 to 40 million Americans are afraid of going to the dentist. Of those with fear, roughly 36 percent don’t see a dentist regularly due to fear. Now, you don’t have to be afraid of visiting the dentist. With your sedation dentist in Spring TX, you can stop letting fear control you so you can visit the dentist regularly. Dr. Kelly LeBlanc offers three different types of sedation to help you feel comfortable and relaxed while visiting the dentist.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous Oxide Sedation is a widely used form of sedation to make the dental experience more comfortable. More commonly known as laughing gas, Nitrous Oxide Sedation is delivered through a mask that’s worn over the nose. The medication takes effect quickly, allowing your dental fears to quickly fade away. You’ll feel completely relaxed during the visit, then the effects of the medication will wear off quickly after your appointment so you can get back to regular activities shortly.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is the ideal option for those who have mild to moderate anxiety. This form of sedation involves the use of a prescribed medication. You’ll take the medication at home prior to coming in for your appointment, so you’ll need someone to drive you to our office. Once the medication takes effect, you’ll feel fully relaxed while we perform the necessary exams and treatments. This allows us to perform multiple procedures in just one appointment. After the appointment, you may not even remember the experience, so you’ll have less fear before your next appointment.
IV sedation is delivered intravenously right in our office. This is the best option for those with moderate to severe dental fears. The IV sedation takes effect quickly. Since the medication is delivered through an IV, we are better able to control the amount of medication delivered. This allows us to cater to your comfort level to ensure you have a relaxing experience. The medication will take some time to wear off, so you will need to have someone to drive you home after your appointment.
